Introduction

As a former manager of a top hotel, Seiji (performed by Kouichi Sato) has been entrusted with the reopening of a hotel in the high plains that has been boarded up and closed for years. With a budget of 20 million Yen, he begins to hire interesting characters to work there and rebuild the hotel. Simultaneously this would also become a journey for him to regain his lost sense of hope.

Synopsis

This story begins with a dilapidated hotel on the devastated high plains and a man (Seiji) from the city experiencing rock bottom. Seiji says that he wants to rebuild the hotel, which would also become a journey for him to regain his lost sense of hope. Individuals carrying various circumstances make up the staff for the opening of the "High Plains Hotel." However, they all turn out to be unreasonable unique individuals. Everyone feels that this group will be unsuccessful in working as a unit to rebuild the hotel. When facing problems, the staff clash with one another, shaking each another, trifling with their emotions.

Seiji's attempts to get a top chef to draw customers fail. The staff members begin to worry about the hotel's future and try to leave, but at precisely that moment, an elderly man who used to be a chef at a top hotel pays a visit. Will this mean success for Seiji or just add to his troubles?

The high plains have perfectly clean air, beautiful birds singing, and scenery of the majestic mountains in the mornings and evenings. Compared to such a beautiful environment, in opposite, human egos collide within the hotel. Nevertheless, overcoming many obstacles, they start to develop a sense of trust, and start changing little by little. Simultaneously they grope at a new way to live by, retrieving their sense of self that was kept hidden in the depths of their hearts.

Primarily guests look forward to comfort and treatment at a hotel. In actuality, it would be the employees that truly receive comfort and treatment.

Program Information

"High Plains Hotel" is famously known as the original "rebuilding theme" drama. It first aired in 1976, starring Jiro Tamiya as Seiji. Koichi Sato plays the role of Seiji in this modern remake of a classic. It is a story that is over flowing with hopes and dreams that will make you feel kind and warm inside. It is a drama that makes you believe in trusting the good will within others once again.
